Withania aristata, also known as Canary Island winter cherry tree or Canary Island sleeping berryis a rare, perennial plant from the Canary Islands. It belongs to the nightshade family and is closely related to the well-known ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is related. With its delicate, bell-shaped flowers and bright red berries, it is not only visually appealing, but is also valued for various traditional purposes in its native country.

Sowing instructions

The germination of Withania aristata is best achieved at warm temperatures and constant humidity.

Sowing time: Spring to summer (all year round with warm cultivation)
Germination period: 2-6 weeks at 22-28 °C
Seeding depth: Plant 0.5-1 cm in loose, well-drained soil
Planting distance: At least 40-50 cm
Location: Sunny and warm, prefers dry to moderately moist soils
Pouring: Moderate, drought-resistant, avoid waterlogging
Pre-soaking the seeds in lukewarm water for 12-24 hours can accelerate germination.

Withania aristata is an easy-care plant that also thrives in dry areas.
