Sowing instructions
To successfully grow Mimosa hostilis var. inermis from seed, follow these steps: First soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours. This helps to soften the hard seed coat and improves germination. Then plant the soaked seeds about 1-2 cm deep in well-drained potting soil. Make sure that the soil is always moist, but not wet. A warm location with temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius is ideal. The first seedlings should be visible within 2 to 4 weeks.
Tips and tricks
Some helpful tips for growing Mimosa hostilis var. inermis: Make sure to distribute the seeds evenly and not to plant them too deep. Use growing pots with drainage holes to avoid waterlogging. A plastic sheet over the pots can support the moist microclimate, but air them daily to prevent mold growth. As soon as the seedlings are strong enough, they can be transplanted into larger pots or into the open ground.
