Sowing instructions:

Sowing Plantago lanceolata seeds is simple and uncomplicated. Choose a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained soil. Loosen the top layer of soil and spread the seeds evenly over the surface. Press the seeds lightly into the soil and then keep it moist until the seedlings appear. The optimum sowing time is in spring or fall when the soil temperatures are mild.

Tips and tricks:

• Regular watering is important, especially during the germination phase and in dry periods. However, avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
• Remove weeds regularly to give the young plants enough space to grow.
• Plantago lanceolata is an easy-care plant and generally requires no additional fertilization. Once established, it is very resistant to drought and disease.

Worth knowing:

• Ribwort plantain is often used as a medicinal plant and is known for its anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties. The leaves can be brewed fresh as tea or made into ointments.
• The plant is also an important source of food for various insects, especially bees and butterflies. By growing Plantago lanceolata, you are therefore helping to promote biodiversity in your garden.
• In addition to its use in gardens, ribwort plantain is also a common wild plant that can be found in meadows, along roadsides and on fallow land.
