Sowing instructions

Borlotto beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) are a great addition to your garden! For a rich harvest, you should sow the seeds directly outdoors from mid-May when the soil has warmed up to at least 12°C. Plant the seeds about 3 cm deep in the soil at a distance of 40 cm between the rows and 10 cm within the row. Make sure that the seedlings get enough light but are also protected from the wind. Keep the soil evenly moist until germination occurs after about 10-14 days.

Harvest, use & storage

Your borlotto beans are ready to harvest after around 70-90 days. The pretty red and white speckled pods can be eaten fresh or dried. Fresh beans can be kept in the fridge for a few days, while dried beans can be stored in airtight containers for up to a year.
