Sowing instructions

Start growing Brassica oleracea var. capitata sabauda "Aubervilliers" in spring, ideally from March to April. Sow the seeds in a seed tray or directly outdoors. Keep a distance of about 30-40 cm between the plants to give them enough space to grow. The seeds should be worked about 1 cm deep into the soil and lightly covered with soil. Water the seeds regularly, but take care to avoid waterlogging. Germination takes place at temperatures between 15-20°C within 7-14 days.

Harvest, use & storage

The delicious heads of the "Aubervilliers" variety are ready to harvest after around 90-110 days. Harvest the cabbages as soon as they are firm and compact. They taste best when freshly harvested, but can also be stored in a cool, dark place for a few weeks. You can use them in a variety of dishes, whether raw in salads, steamed or as an ingredient in stews and soups. The crunchy texture and mild flavor make this savoy cabbage a versatile all-rounder in the kitchen.

Tips & Tricks

To achieve a bountiful harvest, it is advisable to enrich the soil with compost or organic fertilizer before sowing. During the growing phase, it is advisable to regularly check for pests such as cabbage white butterflies. A protective net can be helpful here. A layer of mulch can also help to retain moisture in the soil and reduce weed growth.
