Sowing instructions

If you would like to be surprised by the chili peppers you can harvest at the end of the growing season, then these seeds are just the thing for you. To achieve the best results with our Capsicum annuum "Surprise" seeds, it is best to start sowing in early spring. Sow the seeds about 0.5 cm deep in nutrient-rich potting compost and cover them lightly. Make sure the location is warm and bright - ideally at a constant temperature of 22-25°C. Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. The first seedlings will appear after 2-3 weeks. As soon as the seedlings are strong enough, you can transplant them into larger pots or into the open ground.

Harvest, use & storage

The pods can be harvested after around 75-85 days. They have an intense aroma and a pleasant heat that is perfect for spicy salsas, stews and seasoning meat dishes. You can use the pods fresh, dry them or freeze them to preserve them for later. If stored in a dry and dark place, they will keep for several months.

Tips & Tricks

To maximize the harvest, you should fertilize the plants regularly and make sure they get enough sunlight. In cooler temperatures, you can bring the pots indoors to keep the plants growing. Also make sure to harvest the pods regularly to stimulate the formation of new fruits.

Chillies are not only suitable for the kitchen, they are also a decorative plant for your garden or balcony. The strong, red/green pods are a real eye-catcher and add color to any corner. Chillies are also rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, making them a healthy addition to your diet.
