Sowing instructions

Sowing Cucumis sativus "Fin de Meaux", a particularly tasty and crunchy cucumber variety, is very easy and rewarding. It is best to sow the seeds between April and May in small pots or directly in the open ground. You should plant them about 1 to 2 cm deep in the soil. A bright, warm place is ideal - cucumbers love temperatures between 20 and 25 °C. Make sure that the soil is loose, rich in humus and well-drained so that the plants can grow vigorously. The first seedlings will appear after around 7 to 14 days. As soon as they are big enough and no more frost is expected, you can transfer them to the open ground. Remember to leave enough space: A distance of around 50 cm per plant is recommended.

Harvest, use & storage

You can enjoy the freshly harvested cucumbers from July. They reach a length of around 10 to 15 cm and are perfect for fresh consumption, in salads or as a snack. Their tender bite and slightly sweet flavor are particularly appreciated. They are also excellent for cucumber pickles! Make sure to harvest the fruits regularly to encourage the plant to continue producing them. It is best to store the cucumbers in a cool, dry place. They will keep fresh in the fridge for about a week without losing their flavor.

Tips & Tricks

For a particularly high yield, you should water the plant regularly, especially during the hot summer months. A layer of mulch around the plant helps to retain moisture in the soil and keep weeds at bay. You can fertilize with compost or an organic liquid fertilizer to provide the cucumber plant with sufficient nutrients. If you want to grow cucumbers in a greenhouse, the plant will benefit from a climbing aid to help it grow upwards.

The "Fin de Meaux" variety originally comes from France and is a historic cucumber variety. Its compact growth makes it ideal for growing in small gardens or on balconies. With regular harvesting, the plant will continue to flower and produce new fruits, so you can enjoy fresh cucumbers all summer long.
