Care instructions:
Light: As a plant that tends to be found in lower areas of the African jungle, cacao does best with filtered sunlight. Cocoa should not be exposed to direct midday sun as it will scorch the leaves.
Water: Regular watering during the growing season and very high humidity (at least 70 percent) are important. High humidity is the most difficult condition for these plants and is also the reason why most growers have problems with adequately cultivating cocoa.
Fertilizer: Fertilize weekly with a weak liquid fertilizer containing micronutrients. Cocoa is one of the heavy feeders, especially during the growing season.
Substrate: A light, fast-draining potting soil is perfect. Good drainage is very important for a health cocoa plant. It is best to add perlite, cactus soil, or similar to the substrate.
