Sowing instructions

Acacia acuminata seeds are relatively easy to sow if you follow a few basic steps. First, you should soak the seeds in warm water for about 24 hours. This helps to soften the hard seed coat and promotes germination. Then plant the seeds about 1 cm deep in well-drained soil. Make sure the soil is moist but not soggy. The best time for sowing is spring, as the seedlings then have optimum growing conditions. Place the seed containers in a warm, bright place, but avoid direct sunlight, which could burn the young plants.

Tip: Pre-treatment using Gibberillic acid (GA3) can improve the germination rate.

Tips and tricks

To improve germination, you can lightly sand or scratch the seeds before soaking. This makes it easier for the seedling to penetrate the shell. Make sure that you keep the soil evenly moist during the germination period. A plastic sheet over the seed container can help to retain moisture, but you should ventilate daily to prevent mold growth. As soon as the seedlings have reached a size of around 10 cm, you can transplant them into larger pots or directly into the open ground. Make sure to protect the plants from late frosts.
