Sowing instructions

Sowing Alchemilla xanthochlora seeds is easy and fun. Start by spreading the seeds evenly over moist potting compost. Press them down lightly, but do not cover them completely with soil, as they need light to germinate. Keep the soil constantly moist, but not wet, to prevent mold growth. Covering with foil or glass can help retain moisture. Place the growing container in a bright, but not directly sunny place. Germination usually takes place within two to four weeks at a temperature of around 15-18 °C.

Tips and tricks

To promote germination, you can lightly roughen the seeds before sowing or stratify them in the fridge for a few days. As soon as the small plants have developed two to three true leaves, you can prick them out and plant them in individual pots. Alchemilla xanthochlora prefers a slightly moist, well-drained soil and a semi-shady to sunny location. Make sure to water the plants regularly, especially during the growth phase in spring and summer.
