Sowing instructions

Would you like to grow Physalis ixocarpa "Amarylla"? Great choice! Start with the sowing instructions: You should sow the seeds in a seed tray or small pots. Fill them with high-quality, well-drained potting compost. The seeds need a temperature of around 20-25°C to germinate well. Cover the seeds only lightly with soil, as they are light germinators. Keep the soil constantly moist, but not too wet, to prevent mold growth. A transparent cover can help to keep the humidity high and promote germination. You should see the first seedlings after about 2-3 weeks.

Tips and tricks

When the seedlings are large enough and have developed their first real pair of leaves, you can transplant them into larger pots. Make sure the plants get enough sunlight - a sunny spot or a plant lamp is ideal. Physalis ixocarpa loves warm weather and therefore needs at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. Regular watering is important, but waterlogging should be avoided. During the growing season, you can use a liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks to provide the plants with optimal nutrition. Also remember to support the plants as the fruit can weigh them down.
