Sowing instructions

Aster spectabilis, also known as the Low Aster, is a beautiful addition to any garden. To grow the seeds successfully, it is best to start in spring. Sprinkle the seeds on the surface of moist, well-drained soil and cover them lightly with a thin layer of soil. Keep the soil constantly moist, but not wet. Ideally, place the seed containers in a sunny spot, as Aster spectabilis needs plenty of light to germinate. The first seedlings should appear after around 2-3 weeks. As soon as the seedlings are big enough, you can transplant them outdoors, whereby a distance of about 30 cm between the plants is recommended.

Tips and tricks

For optimum flowering, it is important to water the Aster spectabilis regularly, especially during dry periods. However, avoid waterlogging as this can damage the roots. A nutrient-rich soil supports growth and flower formation, so it is advisable to feed the plants occasionally with an organic fertilizer in spring and summer. To ensure a longer flowering period, remove wilted flowers regularly. This promotes the growth of new buds and keeps your Aster spectabilis healthy and strong.
