The tomato variety Great White is a real rarity and delights with its large, creamy white to pale yellow fruits. They have a mildly sweet taste with an exotic pineapple note and a particularly juicy texture. This beef tomato is not only an eye-catcher in the garden, but also a tasty addition to salads, sauces and fresh summer dishes.

Sowing instructions

Sowing the Great White Tomato seeds are ideally sown indoors or in a greenhouse between February and April.

1. Pre-culture: Sow the seeds in nutrient-rich potting compost and cover them lightly with soil (approx. 0.5 cm).
2. Germination: Keep the soil constantly moist, but not wet. The germination temperature should be between 20 and 24 °C. The first seedlings will appear after 7 to 14 days.
3. Pricking: As soon as the plants have developed two to three true leaves, they can be transferred to larger pots.
4. Planting out: After the ice saints (mid-May), the young plants can be planted outdoors or in a greenhouse. Choose a sunny, wind-protected location and provide a climbing aid.

Harvest, use & storage

The first fruits can be harvested from July, depending on the weather. The tomatoes are ripe when they develop a uniformly light, yellowish color and give slightly.

• Use: Ideal for fresh salads, caprese variations or as a sweet addition to savory dishes. Even in sauces or grilled, the Great White their unique taste.
• Storage: Fresh tomatoes will keep for up to a week at room temperature. For a longer shelf life, they can be frozen or boiled down.

Tips and tricks

Use high-quality tomato soil and organic fertilizer for healthy growth.
Remove the stingy shoots regularly to promote fruit formation.
Water regularly and evenly to avoid cracks in the fruit.
A mulch layer of straw or grass clippings retains moisture in the soil and reduces weed growth.

The Great White originally comes from the USA and is one of the rare white tomato varieties. Its unusual coloring is a real eye-catcher in the garden. Its low acidity makes it particularly suitable for sensitive stomachs.
