Sowing instructions

Achillea millefolium "Cassis", also known as common yarrow, is a beautiful plant with bright pink flowers that will add color and variety to your garden. Here are some tips for sowing our seeds:

  1. Time of sowing: The best times for sowing Achillea millefolium "Cassis" seeds are in spring or fall. You can sow the seeds directly outdoors or pre-grow them in pots.
  2. Soil preparation: Choose a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained soil. Yarrow is not picky when it comes to soil conditions, but it prefers slightly sandy or loamy soil. Loosen the soil well and remove weeds and stones.
  3. Sowing: Sow the seeds thinly and cover them lightly with soil, about 1-2 mm deep. Keep the soil evenly moist until germination occurs. Germination usually takes 2-3 weeks.

Tips and tricks

  • Keep your distance: When the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out so that there is a space of about 20-30 cm between the plants. This allows good air circulation and promotes healthy growth.
  • Irrigation: Yarrow is relatively drought-resistant. Water the plants regularly, but avoid waterlogging. Good drainage is important to prevent root rot.
  • Fertilization: Achillea millefolium 'Cassis' does not require intensive fertilization. A single application of compost or organic fertilizer in spring is sufficient to support growth.
  • Pruning: Cut back withered flower heads regularly to encourage a second flowering phase and keep the plant compact.
