Sowing instructions

Growing Allium jesdianum seeds is uncomplicated and ideal for garden lovers. It is best to sow the seeds in the fall or early spring. Choose a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained soil. Press the seeds lightly into the soil and cover them with a thin layer of substrate. Keep the soil moist at all times, but avoid waterlogging. You should see the first seedlings after 2-3 weeks.

Harvest, use & storage

The first flowers of Allium jesdianum appear in late spring and can be harvested well into the summer. These elegant ornamental plants look great in flower beds, rock gardens and as cut flowers in a vase. The flowers retain their shape even after drying, making them perfect for dry arrangements. After flowering, you can carefully dig up the bulbs and store them in a cool, dry place to plant them out again the following year.

Tips & Tricks

To achieve particularly abundant flowering, you can divide Allium jesdianum seeds every 2-3 years and rearrange the bulbs. Make sure to protect the plants from heavy frosts by covering them with a layer of mulch. Regularly removing wilted flowers also promotes the formation of new buds.

Allium jesdianum belongs to the amaryllis family and originally comes from Iran. The spherical inflorescences reach a height of up to 80 cm and magically attract bees and butterflies. This easy-care plant is not only an eye-catcher, but also supports biodiversity in your garden.
