Sowing instructions:

1. Preparation of the seeds: Collect the seeds in late summer as soon as the seed capsules turn dry and brown. Remove the seeds from the capsules and dry them thoroughly in the air.
2. Cold spell: Colchicum autumnale seeds require a cold period to germinate. You can embed them in moist vermiculite or sand and store them in the refrigerator at a temperature of around 4°C to 7°C for around six to eight weeks.
3. Sowing: After the cold period, you can sow the seeds in well-drained soil outdoors or in pots. Cover the seeds lightly with soil and keep the soil moist until germination occurs.
4. Germination: Germination can take several weeks to months. Be patient and keep the soil moisture constant to support germination.

Tips and tricks:

• Have patience: Germination of Colchicum autumnale seeds can be erratic and take some time. Be patient and keep the conditions constant to achieve the best results.
• Select location: Choose a location in semi-shade or shade with well-drained soil. Colchicum autumnale prefers moist but not wet soil.
• Plant protection: The plant and its seeds contain poisonous alkaloids. Keep them out of reach of children and pets and wear gloves when handling them.

• Colchicum autumnale, also known as autumn crocus, is a perennial plant that blooms in the fall with its delicate flowers in various shades of white, pink and purple.
• The plant is known in many parts of the world for its poisonous properties and should therefore be treated with caution.
• Despite its toxicity, Colchicum autumnale is used in some traditional systems of medicine for the treatment of various ailments, but only under strict medical supervision.
