Sowing instructions

The sowing of Angelica sinensis, also known as Dong Quai, begins in early spring. First prepare a nutrient-rich, well-drained soil. Plant the seeds about 1 cm deep in the soil and cover them lightly with a thin layer of soil. Keep the soil constantly moist, but not wet. Make sure the seeds are in an area with indirect sunlight, as too much direct sun can prevent germination. Germination usually takes 2-3 weeks. Once the seedlings are large enough, they can be transplanted into the garden or into larger pots.

Tips and tricks

Angelica sinensis loves to grow in a cool, shady spot. You should therefore choose a spot that only receives direct sunlight in the morning or late afternoon. Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging. A layer of mulch can help to retain moisture in the soil and suppress weed growth. You can fertilize once a month with a balanced, organic fertilizer. Prune the plant regularly to encourage bushier growth and promote the formation of flowers.

Angelica sinensis is known for its healing properties and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. The plant grows to a height of 1.5 meters and produces beautiful white flowers. All parts of the plant are useful, but the root is particularly valuable and is often used in teas and tinctures.
