Agastache foeniculum, also known as anise hyssop or fragrant nettle, is a versatile, easy-care plant with intensely fragrant leaves and beautiful purple-blue flowers. It attracts bees, butterflies and other pollinators and is perfect for herb and nature gardens. The seeds allow you to easily grow this perennial, hardy shrub, which is not only visually appealing, but also has culinary and medicinal properties.

Sowing instructions

Agastache foeniculum seeds are best sown in spring (March to May) or late summer (August to September). You can sow the seeds directly outdoors or pre-grow them in pots.

The leaves and flowers of Agastache foeniculum are edible and versatile:

To dry, cut off the shoots, bundle them and hang them upside down in an airy, shady place. Store the dried plant parts in an airtight, dark place to preserve the aroma.

• Regular pruning encourages a bushy growth habit.
• Agastache is an excellent companion plant for vegetable beds as it keeps pests away.
• Insects love the sweet nectar - ideal for bee lovers!
