Sowing instructions

Helianthus maximiliani, also known as Maximilian sunflower, is a perennial plant that is ideal for the garden. Sowing these seeds is easy and requires only a few steps. First, prepare the soil by aerating it well and removing weeds. The seeds should be sown directly into the open ground in spring, after the last frost. Sow the seeds about 1 cm deep in rows 30-40 cm apart. Keep the soil evenly moist until the seedlings appear, which usually takes 10-14 days. Early sowing promotes a stronger plant and abundant flowering in late summer to fall.

Tips and tricks

For your Helianthus maximiliani to grow optimally, it is important to plant it in a sunny spot as it needs plenty of light. The soil should be well-drained and rich in nutrients. Mulch the area around the plants to retain moisture and prevent weed growth. Regular fertilization with a balanced fertilizer promotes growth and flowering. Cut back the plants in late fall to make room for new growth the following year. Helianthus maximiliani is also an excellent plant for supporting pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
