Sowing instructions

Ipomoea purpurea, also known as purple bindweed, is a gorgeous plant that can enrich your garden with vibrant colors. To grow these seeds successfully, start in spring when the danger of frost has passed. Sow the seeds about 1 cm deep in well-drained soil. Keep the soil moist, but not too wet, to encourage germination. The first seedlings should appear after about 1-2 weeks.

Tips and tricks

For optimum growth, choose a sunny location, as the bindweed loves warmth and plenty of light. You can also pre-grow the seeds indoors to get a head start. Use small pots for this and transfer the seedlings to the garden later. Don't forget to provide a trellis, as the Ipomoea purpurea is a climbing plant and needs support to develop its full splendor. Regular watering and occasional fertilization support healthy growth and lush blooms.

Ipomoea purpurea belongs to the bindweed family and originally comes from Central and South America. The eye-catching, funnel-shaped flowers open in the morning and close in the afternoon, earning it the name "Morning Glory". The morning glory can climb up to 3 meters high and is ideal for greening fences, pergolas and trellises. It also attracts bees and butterflies, making it a valuable plant for any natural garden.
