Sowing instructions

Papaver somniferum "Lauren's Grape" is a beautiful poppy variety known for its dark pink to deep purple petals. To cultivate this magnificent plant in your garden, it is best to sow the seeds in spring when the danger of frost has passed. Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Sprinkle the seeds lightly over the surface and barely cover them, as they need light to germinate. Keep the soil moist until germination occurs, which usually takes 7-14 days.

Tips and tricks

For best results, thin out the seedlings when they are about 5 cm high so that they have enough space to grow vigorously. A distance of around 30 cm between the plants is ideal. Lauren's Grape is not only beautiful, but also easy to care for. Water the plants regularly, but avoid waterlogging as this can damage the roots. Additional fertilization is not normally required unless your soil is particularly poor in nutrients.

Papaver somniferum 'Lauren's Grape' is not only a real eye-catcher in the garden, but also a popular attraction for bees and butterflies. This variety is often appreciated for its unique flower color and robust nature. Note, however, that Papaver somniferum is known as the opium poppy and is subject to legal regulations in some regions. The plant reaches a height of around 60-90 cm and flowers throughout the summer.
