Sowing instructions

Sowing Nepeta cataria "Light Blue", also known as catnip, is easy and rewarding. You should sow the seeds in spring when the soil has already warmed up. Sow the seeds directly outdoors or in pots by covering them lightly with soil. A distance of around 30 cm between the plants is ideal to provide sufficient space for growth. Keep the soil evenly moist until the seedlings appear, which usually takes 14-21 days.

Tips and tricks

For optimum germination, you can soak the seeds in water 24 hours before sowing. This promotes germination and ensures strong plants. Nepeta cataria "Light Blue" prefers a sunny location, but can also tolerate partial shade. The plant is easy to care for and thrives in almost any soil as long as it is well-drained. Regular pruning promotes a bushier growth habit and prolongs the flowering period. In addition, catmint is a real magnet for pollinators such as bees and butterflies, which makes your garden come alive.
