Sowing instructions

To successfully grow Lactuca sativa var. crispa "Lollo Bionda", start sowing in spring or fall, as this lettuce prefers cooler temperatures. Prepare the seedbed well by loosening the soil and aerating it well. The seeds should be spread thinly, ideally in rows about 30 cm apart. The sowing depth is approx. 1 cm. Cover the seeds lightly with soil and keep the soil evenly moist until germination begins after about 7-14 days.

Tips and tricks

1. Direct sowing or pre-cultivationYou can sow "Lollo Bionda" directly into the bed as well as pre-grow it and transplant it later.
2. Observe distanceTo ensure that the plants thrive, it is important not to sow them too densely. A planting distance of around 25 cm ensures good air circulation.
3. MulchingMulching around the plants can help retain soil moisture and reduce weeds.
4. Snail protectionSnails love fresh lettuce. Use snail fences or organic snail repellents to protect your harvest.
5. Regular harvestCut off the outer leaves so that the plant can continue to grow and you can continuously enjoy fresh lettuce.
