Sowing instructions

With the Solanum lycopersicum "Marglobe" seeds, you can lay the foundation for a rich tomato harvest. It is best to start sowing indoors between February and April. Use nutrient-rich potting soil and plant the seeds about 0.5 cm deep in the soil. Always keep the soil moist, but not wet, and ensure a germination temperature of at least 20 °C. The first seedlings will appear after about 7 to 14 days. As soon as the seedlings are about 5 cm tall and have developed their first pair of leaves, you can prick them out into larger pots. From mid-May, when temperatures are constantly above 15 °C, the young plants can be planted out in the open or in a greenhouse.

Harvest, use & storage

The MarglobeThis tomato is particularly high-yielding. You can harvest the juicy, round fruits from July to October. The tomatoes are perfect for fresh consumption, as an ingredient in salads, sauces or for preserving. Their sweet and intense flavor makes them a real delicacy. You can store harvested tomatoes at room temperature for about a week. For a longer shelf life, they are ideal for freezing or processing into tomato sauce.

Tips & Tricks

To achieve the best results, you should regularly pinch out your tomato plants. To do this, remove the side shoots in the leaf axils. This ensures better fruit formation and a healthy plant. Remember to water tomato plants evenly and avoid waterlogging. Mulching can help to retain moisture in the soil and suppress weeds. If you are growing outdoors, a rain cover or canopy will provide protection from too much rain to prevent fungal diseases.

Worth knowing

The Marglobe was bred in the USA in 1925 and is a proven, robust tomato variety. It is resistant to diseases and thrives both outdoors and in the greenhouse. This variety is characterized by its high fruit quality and its resistant, burst-resistant skin. With the Marglobe-seeds, you can be sure of a tomato that not only tastes great, but also scores with its adaptability and reliability.
