Sowing instructions

Would you like to grow Astragalus mongholicus yourself? That's a great idea! Start by sowing the seeds about 1-2 months before the last frost. Choose a sunny spot in your garden or on the windowsill. The soil should be well-drained and rich in nutrients. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value is ideal. Cover the seeds only lightly with soil, as they need light to germinate. Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. Germination can take between 2 to 4 weeks.

Harvest, use & storage

Astragalus mongholicus is a wonderful herb that is ideal for making your own medicinal herb mixture. It is usually harvested in late summer or fall when the roots are strong and fully developed. Dig carefully around the plant so as not to damage the roots. After harvesting, wash the roots thoroughly and cut them into small pieces. Dry them in a well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight. Store the dried roots in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.

Astragalus is an easy-care plant that requires little attention. Make sure the soil never dries out and use mulch to retain moisture.
