Sowing instructions

If you decide to grow Coriandrum sativum "Moroccan", you are well on your way to enriching your garden with an aromatic highlight. Start sowing the seeds in spring as soon as the danger of frost has passed. The seeds need well-drained, nutrient-rich soil and a sunny location. Sprinkle the seeds thinly on the soil and cover them lightly with a thin layer of soil. Keep the soil moist, but not wet. At temperatures between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius, the seeds will germinate in around two to three weeks.

Harvest, use & storage

Harvesting coriander "Moroccan" is a real treat. When the plants are about 30-45 cm tall and the seeds appear brown and dry, it is time to harvest. Cut off the stems and allow them to fully ripen in a dry, well-ventilated place. After drying, you can separate the seeds from the shells and store them in an airtight container. The dried seeds are ideal for cooking - whether for curries, marinades or as a spice in various dishes.

Tips & Tricks

To achieve the best yield, you should regularly harvest the leaves before the plant starts to produce seeds. This promotes the growth of new leaves and prevents the plant from putting its energy into seed production. Another tip: If you grow coriander in a pot, you can easily bring it indoors if the weather turns bad.

Moroccan coriander is known for its intense aroma, which is somewhat milder than other coriander varieties. It is not only excellent as a kitchen spice, but also has a number of health benefits.
