Turbina corymbosa, also known as "Ololiuqui", is a fascinating climbing plant from the bindweed family (Convolvulaceae). Its heart-shaped leaves and delicate white flowers make it an attractive addition to your garden or balcony. The seeds of this plant have been known and appreciated in various cultures for centuries.

Sowing instructions

To ensure that your Turbina corymbosa germinates successfully, you should follow a few important steps:

  1. Pre-treatmentThe seeds have a hard shell. Soak them in lukewarm water for about 24 hours to promote germination. Alternatively, you can lightly file or scratch the seed coat.
  2. SowingPlant the seeds about 1-2 cm deep in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. A sandy or humus-rich soil is best.
  3. LocationChoose a warm, sunny spot with sufficient climbing aids, as the plant is very climbing.
  4. CastingKeep the soil moist at all times, but avoid waterlogging.

Support the growth with a sturdy climbing aid such as a trellis or wire mesh.
Light pruning stimulates growth and flower formation.
Turbina corymbosa thrives particularly well in a warm climate - a sheltered location is advantageous.
