Sowing instructions
- Site selection: Choose a sunny to semi-shady location for your parsley, ideally with well-drained soil. The plant also tolerates slightly acidic soil well.
- Soil preparation: Loosen the soil thoroughly and remove weeds and large stones. Curly parsley thrives best in humus-rich soil with good drainage.
- Sowing time: The best times for sowing curly parsley are in spring or fall when soil temperatures are moderate. Sow the seeds about 0.5 to 1 centimeter deep in the prepared soil and keep it evenly moist.
- Germination and care: Parsley seeds can take a few weeks to germinate. Keep the seedlings moist and protect them from strong sunlight. As soon as the seedlings become stronger, you can carefully transplant them to provide enough space for them to grow.
Tips and tricks
- Regular watering: Keep the soil evenly moist throughout the growing season, but avoid overwatering as this can lead to root rot.
- Mulching: Mulch the soil around your parsley plants with organic materials such as straw or compost to retain moisture and suppress weed growth.
- Harvesting: Regularly cut off the outer leaves of your parsley plants to encourage the growth of new leaves. Be careful not to harvest too many leaves at once so that the plant continues to thrive.
Worth knowing
- Curly parsley is not only valued for its culinary qualities, but also for its high vitamin, mineral and antioxidant content. It can be used fresh or dried as a spice or added to sauces, soups, salads and many other dishes.
- With the right care and patience, you can grow your own curly parsley plants and benefit from their fresh taste and health benefits all year round.
