Growing instructions:

Pterocarpus santalinus seeds can be germinated by soaking them in water or diluted Gibberellin saunas be improved.

These seeds are dark sprouts, which is why they need to be covered with approx. 2-3 cm of soil. Alternatively, you can also use coconut substrate or spaghum moss.

Fill the seed pots with potting compost, spray with water, place the seeds on the soil and cover with approx. 2-3 cm of soil. It is best to cover the seed pots with plastic film and air them daily or keep the soil moist. Otherwise, the pots can also be placed in suitable propagators until the seeds have germinated and the seedlings are a few centimetres tall. It is important to ensure a supply of fresh air at least once a day to prevent and avoid mold. We recommend the use of special plant lamps if the seeds are grown indoors. We will be happy to help you find suitable lamps.

Alternative germination methodAfter pre-soaking in water/Ga3, place the seeds in slightly damp, previously sterilized spagnum moss or similar and then germinate in a sealable ziplock bag. The seeds require a minimum temperature of approx. 25-30 degrees Celsius for successful germination.

After germination of seeds seedlings can be slowly accustomed to the drier indoor air or fresh air outdoors after a few weeks.

Requires at least partial shade to sun outdoors (preferably somewhat protected from direct midday sun), sufficient water and good fertilization!
