Sowing instructions

To achieve the best results, you should pre-grow the seeds indoors from February to April. Use low-nutrient potting compost and sow the seeds to a depth of around 0.5 cm. Keep the soil moist at all times, but avoid waterlogging. A germination temperature of around 22-25°C is ideal so that the seeds germinate within 10 to 20 days. As soon as the plants have developed two to three pairs of leaves, you can prick them out and transplant them into larger pots. From mid-May, they can be planted outdoors - ideally in a sunny, sheltered spot or in a greenhouse.

Harvest, use & storage

You can harvest the bright yellow fruits from July to September. They reach a length of up to 20 cm and ripen from green to yellow. These peppers are ideal for eating fresh, as a snack or in salads. You can also grill them, stuff them or use them in Mediterranean dishes. If you want to make a stock, the fruits are easy to freeze or pickle. Once harvested, they will keep in the fridge for about a week.

Tips & Tricks

Capsicum annuum loves warmth, so give your plants a sunny spot, ideally against a wall or in a greenhouse. Make sure they are watered regularly, but avoid waterlogging. Fertilize the plants every 14 days with a potassium-rich fertilizer to promote a bountiful harvest. Support the shoots with a stick as the plants grow taller to prevent them from buckling under the weight of the fruit.

Worth knowing

The name "Corno di toro" means "ox horn" in Italian, which refers to the typical shape of the fruit. This bell pepper variety is particularly rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, which makes it not only delicious but also healthy. The plants are very easy to care for and are also ideal for beginners in growing peppers.
