Sowing instructions

Brassica oleracea var. botrytis "Romanesco Natalino" seeds can be sown directly outdoors in spring or late summer. Prepare the soil well by loosening it deeply and adding organic fertilizer. Sow the seeds in rows about 50 cm apart and cover them lightly with soil. Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. You will see the first seedlings after about 7-14 days. As soon as the plants are large enough, you should separate them to a distance of 50 cm.

Tips and tricks

To grow strong and healthy Romanesco cabbages, it is important to fertilize the soil regularly. Use compost or an organic vegetable fertilizer. Make sure to water the plants regularly, especially during dry periods. A layer of mulch around the plants helps to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. If necessary, you can support the plants so that the cabbage heads do not rest on the ground. Keep an eye out for pests such as cabbage white butterflies and slugs and protect your plants with an organic pesticide if necessary.
