Sowing instructions

Sowing Phaseolus vulgaris "Jimenez" seeds is very easy and will soon reward you with a rich harvest. Ideally, you should plant the seeds in the soil in spring after the last frosts. They need a sunny location with well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Press the seeds about 2-3 cm deep into the soil and make sure they are about 20 cm apart. Water the young plants regularly, but avoid waterlogging. You will see the first seedlings after just 7-10 days!

Harvest, use & storage

After around 70-90 days, you can harvest the first colorful pods of the "Jimenez" beans. This variety impresses with its unique pattern of purple and white stripes, which is not only a visual highlight, but also delights with its taste. The beans can be enjoyed fresh or dried. For fresh use, you can process the beans immediately after harvesting. Dried beans are best stored in a dry, cool room - they will keep for up to a year.

Tips & Tricks

To maximize the harvest, we recommend that you fertilize the plants regularly and remove old leaves. A trellis can help to give the plants stability and allow better air circulation. This reduces the risk of fungal infestation. It is best to cut the beans with scissors to avoid damaging the plant. Make sure that you harvest the beans regularly, as this encourages the plant to produce more fruit.
