The Ruthenische Kugeldistel „Platinum Blue“ (Echinops ritro ssp. ruthenicus) ist eine robuste, mehrjährige Staude mit auffälligen, metallisch-blauen Blütenköpfen. Sie eignet sich hervorragend für naturnahe Gärten, Trockenbeete und als Bienenweide. Ihre kugelförmigen Blüten ziehen zahlreiche Bestäuber an und sorgen für eine architektonische Struktur im Garten. Zudem ist sie pflegeleicht, trockenheitsresistent und winterhart.

Germination period: 2–6 Wochen bei 18–22 °C
Seeding depth: 0,5–1 cm, leicht mit Erde bedecken
Location: Sonnig, durchlässige, trockene bis mäßig feuchte Böden
Pouring: Mäßig, trockenheitstolerant, Staunässe vermeiden
Stratification: Eine Kälteperiode (2–4 Wochen im Kühlschrank) kann die Keimung verbessern

Tips and tricks

The plant is schneckenresistent und wird von Wildtieren meist gemieden.
Einmal etabliert, benötigt sie kaum Pflege und kann auch mit wenig Wasser auskommen.
Aussaat im Herbst kann durch natürliche Kälte die Keimung im Frühjahr erleichtern.
