Sowing instructions

Would you like to harvest your own healthy root vegetables? Then Daucus carota "Saint Valley" seeds are just the thing for you! Sow the seeds directly outdoors from March as soon as the soil is frost-free. Choose a sunny to semi-shady location with loose, nutrient-rich soil. Make grooves about 1 cm deep and sow the seeds 3-5 cm apart. Then cover the seeds lightly with soil and keep the soil evenly moist. The first seedlings will appear after approx. 14-21 days. To encourage strong carrots, you should space the plants 5-7 cm apart.

Harvest, use & storage

Saint Valley carrots are ready for harvest when they have reached a length of around 15-20 cm. Harvest time begins in July and can continue into the fall. You can enjoy the crunchy, sweet and aromatic roots fresh, for example as a snack or in a salad. They are also ideal for cooking, baking and preserving. To store them, place the harvested carrots in slightly damp sand to keep them fresh for longer.

Tips & Tricks

To ensure that your 'Saint Valley' carrots grow particularly large and tasty, it is important to water regularly, especially during dry periods. Make sure that the soil remains weed-free to provide the plants with optimal growing conditions. A layer of mulch can help to retain moisture in the soil and suppress weeds. Carrot flies can be repelled by covering them with a fine-mesh net.

The "Saint Valley" variety is characterized by its excellent disease resistance. It is particularly robust against mildew and scab. The carrots are also rich in beta-carotene and vitamin A, which makes them a healthy addition to your diet.
