Sowing instructions

Sowing Lagochilus seravschanicus seeds is uncomplicated if you follow a few basic rules. The seeds should be sown in spring, preferably from March onwards, when temperatures are constant at around 18-22 °C. If you have plant lights, you can grow the seeds regardless of the time of year. You can sow the seeds either outdoors or in a seed tray. Press the seeds lightly into the soil and keep the substrate slightly moist at all times, but avoid waterlogging. Nutrient-rich, well-drained soil is ideal for promoting plant growth. Germination usually takes 2-4 weeks, so be patient!

Harvest, use & storage

After successful sowing, you can start harvesting the leaves after about 3-4 months. Lagochilus seravschanicus is known for its calming and relaxing properties and is often prepared as a tea. To harvest the leaves, cut them carefully when the plant is well matured. For storage, dry the leaves in a shady, well-ventilated place. Once they are completely dry, store them in an airtight container to preserve their potency for a long time.

Tips & Tricks

A helpful tip for successful sowing: you can soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours before sowing (even better would be to use Gibberillic acid/GA3) to promote germination. Make sure that you place the young plants in a sunny location, as Lagochilus seravschanicus needs a lot of light. If you are planting outdoors, choose a spot that is well protected from wind and excessive moisture. A substrate with good drainage (e.g. cactus soil) is recommended. Regular thinning out of the seedlings ensures that each plant has enough space to grow.

Worth knowing

Lagochilus seravschanicus originates from Central Asia and has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. The plant contains calming active ingredients that are used in many cultures for relaxation and mild sedation. It is not only a valuable plant in the medicine cabinet, but also an eye-catcher with its delicate flowers and bushy growth.
