Sowing instructions

Sowing Echinacea purpurea "Doppeldecker" is easy and fun! It's best to start in spring as soon as the danger of frost has passed. Scatter the seeds thinly over well-prepared, well-drained soil and cover them lightly with soil. Keep the seeds well moist, but not wet, otherwise they could rot. A sunny location promotes germination, which usually begins after about 2-3 weeks.

Tips and tricks

To promote germination, you can soak the seeds in water for 24 hours before sowing. This speeds up the process and increases the germination rate. Echinacea prefers a sunny location and well-drained soil. Planting the plants closer together will help to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Regular watering during dry periods and removing faded flowers encourages the formation of new flower buds.
