Sowing instructions

Sowing Urtica dioica seeds is easy and requires only a few steps. Start by sowing the seeds in spring or fall, as these seasons offer the best germination conditions. Spread the seeds thinly over fine, well-drained soil and cover them lightly with soil. Keep the soil evenly moist but not too wet to avoid rotting. Germination usually takes place within two to four weeks. Make sure that the soil does not dry out during the germination phase. The ideal germination temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Tips and tricks

Urtica dioica, also known as stinging nettle, is an extremely robust plant that requires little care. To achieve the best results, you should choose a location that is semi-shaded to sunny and offers nutrient-rich soil. If the plants grow too densely, thin them out to create enough space for each plant. Nettles benefit from regular watering, especially during dry periods. An organic mulch can help retain moisture in the soil and suppress weed growth. Cut the plants back regularly to control spread and encourage flower production.
