Sowing instructions

Add color and fragrance to your garden with Nepeta clarkei seeds. Ideally, they should be sown in spring as soon as there is no risk of frost. Choose a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained soil. Spread the seeds thinly over the surface of the soil and cover them lightly with soil - they need light to germinate. Keep the soil moist, but not too wet. The first seedlings will appear after about 2-4 weeks. Make sure to leave enough space between the plants, as Nepeta clarkei likes to spread out.

Harvest, use & storage

As soon as the plant is in full bloom, you can harvest the delicate flowers for teas or as fragrant decoration. It is best to pick the flowers early in the morning when the scent is at its most intense. After harvesting, the flowers can either be used fresh or laid out to dry in a shady place. Dried Nepeta clarkei flowers can easily be stored in airtight containers for several months and retain their intense aroma.

Tips & Tricks

Nepeta clarkei loves to be cut back regularly. This not only promotes a longer flowering period, but also bushy, healthy growth. Don't forget to remove the wilted flowers regularly - this will ensure a constant flowering period. Even if the plant makes few demands, an occasional application of organic fertilizer will help to keep it in top form.
