Echinopsis, a genus of the cactus family, originally comes from the high altitudes of South America. These fascinating cacti are particularly at home in countries such as Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil. The robust plants are adapted to harsh climatic conditions and thrive in dry, stony soil.

Echinopsis cacti are known for their beautiful, large flowers, which often only bloom for one night. These magnificent flowers appear in a wide range of colors, from pure white to intense pink and bright yellow. The plants usually grow spherical or columnar and can reach impressive sizes. Did you know that some species of Echinopsis are also known as "sea urchin cactus"? This is due to their characteristic ribbed surface, which is reminiscent of a sea urchin.

Tips for rooting cacti

To root your Echinopsis successfully, you should follow a few steps:

  1. Separating the offshootSeparate a healthy cutting from the mother cactus. Make sure the cutting is clean and dry. (If you have a mother plant)
