Origin

Trichocereus Yowie, also known as Echinopsis Yowie, originally comes from South America. These majestic cacti thrive particularly well in the high Andean regions of Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. In these areas, they are adapted to extreme weather conditions, making them robust and easy to care for plants for your home or garden.

Worth knowing

Trichocereus Yowie is known for its impressive, columnar growth forms and its beautiful, large flowers, which usually bloom at night. Depending on the variety, the flowers can appear in different colors such as white, yellow or pink. Under optimal conditions, these cacti can reach a height of up to three meters, making them a real eye-catcher. They are also frost-tolerant and can survive temperatures as low as -10 °C.

Tips for rooting cacti

To root Trichocereus Yowie successfully, you should first leave the cuttings to dry in a shady, dry place for about a week. This prevents rotting. Then plant the cuttings in a well-drained cactus soil mix. A bright location without direct sunlight is ideal until the first roots have formed. Water the cuttings sparingly and avoid waterlogging.

Care of the plants

Trichocereus Yowie cacti require minimal care. Place them in a sunny location, preferably with at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. During the growing season in spring and summer, you should water the plant regularly but moderately. Make sure that the soil dries completely before watering again. In winter, cacti need very little water. Occasional fertilization with special cactus fertilizer supports growth and flower formation.
