Sowing instructions: Before you start sowing, you should make sure that you have the right conditions for growing Trichocereus pachanoi. These cacti thrive best in warm, sunny environments with well-drained soil.

  1. Preparation of the substrate: Use a well-drained cactus soil or mix sand and perlite for improved drainage. Fill pots or shallow containers with the substrate.
  2. Sowing: Place the Trichocereus pachanoi seeds evenly on the soil surface and cover them lightly with a thin layer of substrate. Press the soil down gently to ensure that the seeds have good soil contact.
  3. Irrigation: Water the seeds carefully with a spray bottle or by submerging them to moisten the substrate evenly. However, avoid excessive watering as this can lead to rotting.
  4. Placement: Place the pots in a sunny spot where they receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Keep the temperature constantly warm during the germination process, ideally between 20°C and 25°C.

Tips and tricks:

  • Regular monitoring: Monitor the moisture content of the substrate regularly and only water when the top layer of the soil is dry.
  • Transplantation: As soon as the seedlings are big enough to be ready to handle (usually after a few months), you can transplant them into larger pots or into the garden.
  • Protection against frost: Trichocereus pachanoi are sensitive to frost. Make sure you keep them in a frost-free area in winter or cover them with a frost blanket.
