Sowing instructions

Growing Capsicum annuum "Cayenne" seeds is child's play and can be done both indoors and outdoors. It is best to start sowing in late winter or early spring to give the plants enough time to grow. Fill small pots or seed trays with high-quality potting compost and press the seeds about 0.5 cm deep into the soil. Cover them lightly with soil and keep the substrate evenly moist. A germination temperature of 20-25°C is ideal. The first seedlings will appear after about 2-3 weeks.

Tips and tricks

As soon as the seedlings are strong enough and have developed their first pair of true leaves, you can prick them out and transplant them into larger pots. Use nutrient-rich soil and make sure there is sufficient drainage to avoid waterlogging. Place the plants in a sunny location, as cayenne pepper loves warmth and light. Make sure to water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Occasional fertilization with a potassium-rich fertilizer promotes growth and fruit formation.
