Sowing instructions

To achieve the best results when sowing Acacia obtusifolia seeds, follow these steps: First soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours. This will help to soften the hard seed coat and promote germination. Then plant the seeds in well-drained soil, about 1-2 cm deep. Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. A warm and bright location, ideally with temperatures between 20-25°C, is ideal for germination. The first seedlings should appear within 2-4 weeks.

Tips and tricks

  • Use growing containers or trays to better control the young plants.
  • As soon as the seedlings are big enough, transplant them into individual pots so that they have enough space to grow.
  • Protect the young plants from direct midday sun to avoid sunburn.
  • You should only fertilize after about 6-8 weeks with a mild liquid fertilizer.
  • Make sure to acclimatize the plants slowly to direct sunlight when you take them outside.

Worth knowing

Acacia obtusifolia, also known as "Blunt-leaf Wattle", is an evergreen tree native to the forests of Australia. This plant is known for its attractive, fragrant yellow flowers that appear in the summer months and attract numerous pollinators. The seeds contain natural compounds that are used in traditional medicine. Acacia obtusifolia is also a nitrogen-fixing plant, which means that it can improve the soil and help other plants to grow. With a mature height of up to 10 meters, it makes an excellent ornamental tree or hedge plant in larger gardens.
