Sowing instructions

Allium cepa "Všetana" is best sown between February and April. Plant the seeds in a cold frame or directly outdoors as soon as the temperatures are constantly above 5 °C. Ensure a distance of around 5 cm between the seeds and a planting depth of 1-2 cm. The optimum germination temperature is around 15-20 °C and the first shoots will appear after 2-3 weeks. Regular watering is important, but avoid waterlogging.

Harvest, use & storage

The onions are ready to harvest after around 100 to 120 days. You can tell when the time is right when the leaves turn yellow and bend over. Carefully lift the onions out of the soil and leave them to dry for a few days in an airy, dry place. This way you can store them well. Allium cepa "Všetana" is ideal for salads, as a base for sauces or in hot dishes. If stored correctly, the onions will keep for several months.

Tips & Tricks

Mulch the soil regularly to retain moisture and reduce weeds. For an even harvest, you can repeat sowing every two weeks. Use well-drained, humus-rich soil to achieve the best results. A sunny location also promotes the growth of the onions.

Allium cepa "Všetana" is a traditional, fast-growing onion variety that is characterized by its high yield. The onions have a medium size and a mild pungency, which makes them very versatile. This variety originates from the Czech Republic and is particularly resistant to diseases and pests.
